Placement Options

Work experience options vary from country to country depending on which of the following fields you choose:

  1. Agriculture & Horticulture including Wine and Horse Industries
  2. Forestry & Fisheries
  3. Natural Resource Management & Conservation
  4. Environmental Education, Interpretation & Ecotourism

Program Dates

  • Applications and placements are made year-round.
  • Actual starting dates depend on your placement request (can't do production ag in Europe during the winter!)

Services Provided by Experience International

  1. Quality placements through established program partner abroad
  2. Contact with country partners (fax, phone, email, and express mail)
  3. Help with documents necessary for visa and/or work permit
  4. Fact sheets covering culture adaptation, what to pack, and what to expect
  5. Placement and Program Evaluations
  6. Re-entry culture adaptation information
  7. Support in the event of an emergency and/or difficulties encountered abroad
  8. Personal accident/health insurance policy (on request)

Application Process

  1. Contact EI for an application packet.
  2. Submit Application Form & Accompanying Documents.
  3. Interview with Experience International.
  4. Application sent to program partner.
  5. Placements are made based on: career/experience, language, dates & duration of placement requested.
  6. If you already know where you want to go, we will help facilitate you getting there.
  7. Detailed placement information is provided prior to accepting placement.

Program Fees

  • Program Fee: $600. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is paid with the application and $500 is paid once the placement has been confirmed.
  • Country Partner Fee: Some country partners may charge an inbound program fee. These vary from country to country and you'll be informed if there is a fee when you select the country you're interested in going to.

Finances and Insurance

  • In most cases, participants receive wages or combination of stipend, room and board and the amount will vary by country, participant's background, and type of placement.
  • Volunteer positions may also be available.
  • Participants are responsible for international travel and misc. living expenses abroad.
  • Health and travel insurance is required and may be purchased through E.I. with CISI International.

Qualification Criteria

  1. Age: 18 years or older. Married couples may apply depending on the country.
  2. Experience: Documented work experience OR prior internship in field related to requested placement OR, with program approval, a strong desire to learn about the field requested for placement.
  3. Education: Enrolled student or graduate of a post-secondary educational program.
  4. Health: No physical or mental health problems that would limit activities or possible potential safety problems for self and/or others.
  5. Language: Requirements vary depending upon the country requested for placement.
